What’s is the customer experience of moving to the U4FbC Cloud, what are the realized benefits, lessons learnt, successes, and expanded value of the landscape?
The Cloud is the future. In a recent customer panel at the UKI U4FbC Customer event 2024, we spoke to three highly valued Unit4 customers, Linda Schneider, Senior Systems Accountant, Superdry, Robin Wright, Group Financial Controller, Together Money and Richard Woolhouse, Finance Project Manager, Portman Travel, about their journey to and experience with the U4FbC Cloud. Here’s what we learned:
Why Cloud?
Everyone knows most organizations have to move to the Cloud sooner or later.
For Superdry, moving to the Cloud resolved major reliability issues. Previously, systems went down two to three times a month, with some outages lasting until the next day. Cloud migration ensured consistent uptime with support available to resolve issues within 20 minutes. Hear it with their own words in this short video.
Benefits of Moving to the Cloud
Moving to the Cloud delivers several key benefits, including Cost Efficiency, Scalability, Accessibility, Security, Continuous Updates: With Cloud deployment, and Reduced IT Dependency. Unit4 customers, like Together Money, benefit from continuous releases, always having the latest features available without extensive IT involvement.
Experiences with Cloud Migration Assessment
Lessons Learned with Cloud Migration
According to our customers successful Cloud migration requires careful planning and a phased approach for Preparation, Collaboration, Training, Monitoring, and Test Extensively: All panelists emphasized the importance of thorough testing across all functions. This ensures that all systems work correctly post-migration and reduces the likelihood of unexpected issues.
One of the major lessons learned by Portman Travel is – “Get the right people around you”. Engaging with subject matter experts (SMEs) and Unit4 support teams early in the migration process helps identify potential problems and ensures a smoother transition.
What were the worries About Cloud Pre-Migration
Common concerns before migrating to the Cloud include fears about data security, potential downtime during migration, and the complexity of integrating with existing systems.
For Superdry, there were concerns about accessing the database directly post-migration. However, with the Unit4 Cloud solution, a replica environment was created that allowed continued direct access to run extensive reports throughout the migration process, alleviating initial worries.
