Two institutions team up in joint selection process for ERP and SIS upgrade

Vancouver Island University (VIU) is a degree-granting institution in British Columbia with about 16,000 full- and part-time students, and Selkirk College is a rural college currently serving about 2,600 full-time students in the West Kootenay region of British Columbia. Both institutions were running on the same homegrown legacy administrative systems, and had begun to experience similar challenges. Their decision to switch to Unit4 was reached after a vigorous and extensive vendor selection process, which VIU and Selkirk undertook in partnership in order to cut costs and to benefit from knowledge sharing.

  • Unique, collaborative system evaluation process saved money and improved selection process for both institutions
  • Modern, flexible solution will enhance the student and employee experience and improve management practices
  • Unit4 Student Management and Unit4 Business World to be hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud
“During our joint selection process, thousands of individual business requirements were identified and ranked by priority as part of a very detailed systems evaluation. We had very specific requests, but all of the challenging things we put forward were met head-on with confidence and a feeling of partnership from Unit4.” Liana Zwick, project transformation lead at Selkirk College.
